After-School Program

The Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan's after-school program is aimed at providing interesting and fun activities that expand your child's skills and talents.

After-school activities are open to students in the three divisions. We provide enriching experiences, in which children can explore different activities, develop new skills, hone established skills, and socialize with other students.

In kindergarten and first grade there is a chess class that meets once per week. In grades 2-5 we offer several choices for afterschool classes. Chess, art, science, aviation, drama, and yoga are examples of the different choices students have. Classes meet once per week.

The Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan offers coeducational interscholastic teams in soccer during the fall season and basketball during the winter months. Practice during both seasons is scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.; games are generally scheduled on the same days of the week.

The school competes with other schools that field coed teams, and games feature a heavy emphasis on team play and sportsmanship. The interscholastic teams are coached by certified athletic coaches. For further information, please contact the Athletic Director.
