Admissions - Middle School

Applications for incoming sixth through eighth grade are available beginning in September, but we encourage families considering application to contact us at any time of year, to learn more about our approach to teaching and learning and about our welcoming and inclusive Jewish community.

We offer group tours throughout the school year of our middle school, located on the West Side, at the Society for the Advancement of Judaism. In addition, interested families are invited to informal evenings in the homes of Schechter Manhattan families throughout Manhattan and Riverdale.

To learn more, or to request an application, please contact our Director of Admissions, Dr. Cindy Dolgin at (212) 427-9500 ext: 18 or cindydolgin@sssm.org.

After the school receives a completed application (containing the application form, copy of the child’s birth certificate, the non-refundable $75 application fee, student statement, parent statement, and school recommendation), each applicant family will receive a package with interview dates for the child and the parents as well as tuition-setting materials.

Applicants to the middle school are required to submit the results of the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) (or equivalent such as the psychometric exam at Machon Szold in Israel) along with their application. School transcripts and/or evaluation results from the applicant’s last two years of schooling need to be submitted to the school at the time of application.

As an ISAAGNY (Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York) member school, we follow the citywide dates for admissions notification and replies.

Completion of an application does not guarantee an offer of admission.
